Thermotherapy is the collective term for treatments in which heat therapy and/or cold therapy are applied.
Heat therapy is one of the oldest medical treatments. Heat therapy is the application of heat to the body for pain relief and health. It can be beneficial to those with arthritis and stiff muscles and injuries to the deep tissue of the skin. Heat may be an effective self-care treatment for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.
Among others heat therapy is used for the treatment of neck-/shoulder disorders, low back pain. Muscle disorders, spasms, joint disorders, sciatica, rheumatism and menstrual pain. Heat should not be applied in case of inflammation or fever.
Heat therapy is most commonly used for rehabilitation purposes and increasing blood flow. The increased blood flow to the affected area provides proteins, nutrients, and oxygen for better healing.
Cold therapy decreases cellular metabolism, inflammation, pain and spasm and promotes vasoconstriction, Cold therapy is a treatment of cold temperatures to an injured area of the body. An cold pack is placed over an injured area and is intended to absorb heat of a closed traumatic or edematous injury by using conduction to transfer thermal energy. It is commonly used to alleviate the pain of minor injuries and sports injuries.
Moor (healing mud).
Moor is the result of a long-time, natural process. Over hundreds of years mortified plants form a layer of peat, used for our moor packs.
